here are what people think of stephen kings novels.

Reviews for The Shining

First King novel I ever read--way back in 1980. Have read everything of his I could get my hands on since!! :)

Without a doubt, this is my favorite STEPHEN KING book. The haunted happenings at the OVERLOOK are bone-chilling and make for an interesting read. If you have only seen the Jack Nicholson flick, or the recent tv remake, do yourself a favore and read the book. Much more detailed and thrilling than either adaption

Major creep-out on several levels. Not the least of which is being trapped with two other people (even if you love them) for a whole winter in ONE BUILDING! That, and the bath-tub scene with the dead woman and the little kid. Pity this movie wasn't filmed in the actual Overlook Hotel, would have been a hit for Stephen King fans.

Reviews for The Green Mile
Excellent book. This is the book that should have set all of his critics on their ears, as this proves that he can write a compelling story without resorting to sex or gruesome details. The serial format was unique (at least, it was to me) but the story is nothing short of phenomenal. Even if you HATE Stephen King, do yourself a favor and read this book.

Great book - the serialized approach was fun - the movie even did a good job of being faithful to the book.
Dreamcatcher
A very, very bizarre book: such that, if his name wasn't on it, you wouldn't guess it was him. It's one of the few books he's written that I haven't bothered to read twice, though I did see the movie. I very much liked the images he used when the main character (who's name I can't remember) gets locked into his own mind-warehouse. Tough to explain, but very well done
